Classroom, Montana, and Maybe More :)

I realize it's been a little since my first/most recent post. I never intended for that to happen. My goal was/is to post every couple of days. So far I've not been so good at meeting that goal, so improvement is in the works!!!
This post, I plan on getting more into the "swing" of how I will usually "blog". So here it goes:
This past week has been extremely eventful for my husband and I. As I mentioned before, my husband and I were both overwhelmingly blessed with being hired as 3rd grade teachers at 2 schools in our district. Now the summer is drawing to an end, and this is an eventful time for BRAND NEW TEACHERS!! On Monday, I got to see my classroom for the very first time!! Talk about excitement!! I can't even describe the feeling I got when the school secretary handed me that key. But, when I opened the door the daunting task smacked me right in the face. I had a lot of work to do. Luckily, Nathan (my hubby) was off that day and he was there to see me through those first few overwhelming hours! We got to the school around 1:00 and only planned on staying an hour or so, but ended up staying until 5:00 pm! We got a lot done. After those 4 short hours, my room went from looking like a leftover mess to looking like this:
I know there is still much to be done, but this is so much better than before! My room was a 2nd grade room last year and the previous owner was, well, a little disorganized. I finally got all of HIS stuff OUT and am now ready for my stuff to find its home. Also, I have no desks as of yet and am lacking a carpet and kidney table. Once I have all the pieces of the puzzle, however, it's going to look GREAT! I plan on covering all bulletin boards to meet the state standards and adding many personal touches. The kids will be seated in "tripod" groups of 3 so as to accommodate Kagan cooperative learning strategies. I'll also be bringing in a few plants and playing soft music to make the room "brain-based". I'll be sure to post more pictures once it's finished.
On Thursday, Nathan took a day off from his temporary insurance job (since we have to have $$$ while we wait to start teaching) and we went to his school to work in his room. I must say, I'm a little jealous!! All of his furniture was ready to go and he got WAY more done than I did. After working all day (minus a trip to Long John Silvers for a bite to eat!) his classroom looks awesome.

There is actually a little more done that the picture shows, but I forgot to take a picture of the finished product!
Tomorrow, Nathan and I will go to our new-hire training together and I am looking forward to it! I think it will just make the dream of being a teacher even more of a reality! Then, on Tuesday, I'm going back to my classroom while Nathan is at work to do some more work in my room. Hopefully my furniture will be in there then!!
On Thursday, Nathan will be finishing his room and meeting with his principal for orientation, and on Friday, I will be finishing mine! Needless to say, this week will be very busy for the both of us!
Also on Thursday of this week, my mom will be making a rather eventful trip. She, along with Nathan's mother, grandmother and sister, will be traveling to Montana and South Dakota to visit Nathan's younger brother who is in the Air Force. This is a huge event for my mom because she A) hates to fly and B) has always dreamed of visiting the Big Sky Country!
I am very excited for her and I pray for them all to have a safe and fun trip!
Well, I think that covers it for now!
I promise to post sooner than before!

Here We Go! . . . . . . ???

Well, I've done it. I'm entering the blogging world. This was a rather large step for me, as I'm an incredibly private person. Having just recently deleted my Facebook account because I felt my business was no one else's business, I wasn't so sure that blogging was right for me--despite my interest. Ultimately, as is obvious, I decided that I would go for it. I suppose I rationalized it by telling myself that hardly anyone would find this thing, and I would not be announcing it to the world through a "home page" with a "news feed". I actually created my account, designed my background, and thought of a title (which I'll get to in a little bit) about a week and a half ago. Only now have I mustered up the courage to make the first post. I finally felt like the time was right. So, here I am!
First, I want to tell you a little about who I am, what I'm blogging about, and how I plan for my blog to go.
My name is Katie Bishop and I am a 22 year old with many titles.
*First title: Christian. I define myself by this first and foremost because it truly dictates everything else in my life. I am a member of the local Church of Christ and consider myself very strong in my faith. I absolutely could not survive without my Lord and Savior to talk to, worship, praise, lean on, and thank for everything. In my posts, you will probably see me reference my faith in various ways; although I would never try to be obnoxious about this part of my life. Sometimes I think that is the worst thing a Christian can do, as it turns off so many potential Christians.
*Second title: Woman. This is probably obvious, but I feel it necessary to mention. I definitely consider myself a womanly woman. I love shopping, baking, cooking and (yes, I will admit) cleaning. I really take pride in womanly duties and thoroughly enjoy things that most women hate. I feel that God gave us a special role to play in our world and I believe it important to uphold that to the best of my ability.
*Third Title: Newlywed. I must say, I'm very proud of this title! I was recently married on June 25, 2010 in a small ceremony followed by an intimate reception. It was different than anything I had planned (maybe I'll blog about that later...), but it was perfect and beautiful and I loved it. We honeymooned in Jamaica (which was awful) and now reside in our hometown. It's been absolutely amazing thus far and I can't wait to see what else God has in store for my husband and I!
*Fourth Title: Teacher. This is also I new title that I am very proud of. I have my Bachelor's degree in Education and was just recently hired with the public school district to teach 3rd grade at a local Elementary School. I can not wait to get started and see what excitement this school year will bring! I must also mention that my husband is also a recently hired 3rd grade teacher at another local Elementary School. We both start in August and are completely stoked to begin this adventure together! What a blessing these jobs were to us!
*Fifth Title: Daughter. I realize this is probably a common and cheesy title, but it's necessary. My mother is my best friend and a huge part of my every day life. I constantly strive to be the best daughter possible and will probably blog about our relationship often.

So those are my titles! Last but not least, I just want to explain a little bit about the title of this blog and the intentions that I have for it.
"December Before June" comes from a quote from the beloved Dr. Seuss:

"How did it get so late so soon? Its night before its afternoon. December is here before its June. My goodness how the time has flewn. How did it get so late so soon?"

It references how quickly time passes by and effectively sums up exactly why I am "blogging". Time FLIES. I have realized this ever so much recently. I can't believe I'm 22 and married and starting a "big girl" job! When did this happen??? I don't want the time to get away from me as I feel like it has up to now.
I'm hoping that if I use the blog to take the time to sit and reflect, remember, and write about my life and my experiences, maybe it won't seem like it's getting away from me so badly.
***I hope***
